Alexa Cappelli Live Show Review

Alexa Cappelli took the stage at Mercury Lounge’s “School Night” event in New York City at full speed, launching into her latest release “Lose Lose.” The energetic, vibrant song shook up the room, getting heads bobbing and raising “woops” at the sheer power of Alexa’s voice. She followed up with the groovy number “Body Language” and then with angsty throwback “She’s So Gone” from Disney’s “Lemonade Mouth” to the delight of the crowd — a perfect transition and opportunity for Alexa to showcase her stunning belt.

Each song was its own surprise, from the sincerity and raw feeling of her unreleased ballad “Someone Better” to the bright, flirty fun of her “Say Something” performance, complete with pink heart glasses for herself and her guitarist. Alexa has a knack for showcasing the complicated simply in her writing, distilling the turbulent emotions of love and friendship into relatable (and highly catchy) lyrics. That, and the fact that she has serious pipes, made for a memorable performance. Whether you knew all the words or none at all, there was no denying that you were witnessing pure talent.
