Bloom

Anya Thompson is an artist based in California studying studio art and art history, specializing in feminist art history and the male gaze. With a focus on surrealistic realism, she likes to make statements that subvert the male gaze and make the viewer introspect on their discomfort using bright colors and disturbing themes.

“Bloom” (2020) was created to play on the male gaze with overt nudity that the viewer cannot focus on because of the surrealism of the succulent head.
